Early Screening Information

Early childhood screening is a free and simple check of how your child is growing, developing and learning. Screening at 3 is preferred, but a child may be screened between the ages of 3 and the start of kindergarten as required by law. Screenings serve two major purposes. They are used to determine if a child s development is on track and to provide families with information about community and learning resources for young children.

Please call 218-237-6600 to schedule an appointment for the next screening date.

What to expect at a screening appointment... A trained professional will check:

Vision and hearing
Height and weight
Immunizations
Large and small muscles
Thinking, language and communication skills
Social and emotional development

All screenings are held at Century Elementary.

*Head Start students - screening is state approved so Head Start children DO NOT have to be re-screened.
