Day 1: Board the comfortable coach bus and we’ll make our way to the Drury Inn at Des Moines, IA. We’ll be there in time for their 5:30 Kickback. The kickback features a rotating menu of hot food, beer, wine, mixed drinks and soft drinks.
Day 2: Start your day with a complimentary hot breakfast at the hotel. You will board the bus and we will travel to the Madison County Chamber of Commerce Welcome Center where we will meet our step-on guide for a covered bridge tour. We will return to Winterset s Town Square for shopping, lunch on your own and time at John Wayne’s Birthplace & Museum. After exploring the Town Square, we will venture to local farms for several tours. You will also tour the Howell s Farm and Florals. For years, the 800 hundred acre rolling farm land and pastures were used for growing corn, beans, hogs, and cattle, but in 1985, farmer Fred began raising flowers specifically for dried florals. Today, those flowers cover more than 5 acres and guests delight to tour the gardens, as well as the greenhouse, gift shop and the upper floor of Howell’s 1910 Barn, where the flowers are hung to dry.
Day 3: Immerse yourself in the beauty of Pella and walk through the tulips, Vermeer Windmill & Pella Historical Village. Walk the deck of the tallest working grain windmill in the United States! Then, visit any of the 22 buildings showcasing Pella s Dutch Heritage and history, including the childhood home of Wyatt Earp. Scholte House is a newly renovated mansion-turned-museum built by Pella s founder and is a fascinating tour. Learn about the tribulations of the founding family, and see the beautiful treasures contained within the home. Enjoy the delicious food and shops to make this an unforgettable experience.
Day 4: Spend the remainder of the trip with your friends enjoying our usual breaks and lunch.
We will arrive home early evening.
