The Current State of Solid Waste
-
The current state of waste management is a complex and evolving issue, influenced by increasing waste generation, technological advancements, and growing environmental concerns. Historically all garbage would go into one bin, then buried in a landfill. As the landfills filled up and new environmental regulations were imposed, cost to landfill increased. The truth is, most of our waste can be reused or recycled. Hubbard County partners with five surrounding counties to process our waste. We sort and separate the waste into different streams to be reused, recycled, incinerated, or buried.
